OK, if you’re looking at this page, the chances are something has gone wrong and you’re probably panicking already.
Well don’t.
Look upon this as the “If All Else Fails” page – a quick checklist to go over that might help rectify things.

The don't panic list
Switch your PC off and on again – Honestly, it does work! And it resolves more problems than you would imagine.
If it wont switch off normally, press down the ‘ON’ button until it switches off (5 – 10 seconds).
DO NOT SWITCH OFF AT THE WALL or PULL THE PLUG OUT.
Run a full virus scan – you never know what is lurking in the background.
Remove the last program you installed
Remove the last item of hardware you added or plugged in
Try using system ‘restore’ to return to a date when you know that everything worked.
If it wont switch off normally, press down the ‘ON’ button until it switches off (5 – 10 seconds).
